Seychelles consists of over ninety small islands in the Indian Ocean, the main islands laying between 4 and 5 degrees south of the Equator. The islands are about 1,300km from the coast of East Africa.
Most of the islands are low-lying coralline islands, but the largest, Mahé, has granite hills rising to over 900m.
Seychelles is…
- Beautiful – it really is as stunning as it looks in the holiday brochures! Beaches of pure white sand, crystal clear oceans, forest-covered mountains, palm trees swaying in the breeze… lovely!
- Hot – 30 degrees all year round, with incredibly fierce sunshine most days
- Wet – it might be hot, but it also rains a lot, especially from December to February (see the weather page)
- Friendly – the Seychellois people are welcoming and generous
- Beautiful – have we mentioned that already?!
