The Junior Section is composed of 8 classes and approximately 200 students—with over 20 staff committed to creating a healthy, happy, and effective learning atmosphere. The focus of the Junior Section is to consolidate the learning which took place in the EC section and then to effectively prepare the students for rigorous demands of the Senior School.
With the recent expansion, the Junior Section now has 2 classes per year group (Y3, Y4, Y5, and Y6). Along with the core curriculum being delivered in each class, students are also engaged in specialist classes as well (French, ICT, and PE). ISS and the Junior Section have always maintained an inclusive approach to the student body, and as such we also offer additional learning support through our Special Educational Needs programme.
While considerable effort and energy is focused on the academic achievements of each student, the Junior Section places significant emphasis on the development of the ‘whole child’—academic, athletic, and interpersonal. The yearly, weekly, and daily schedule is structured in such a way to support this educational philosophy. With regular assemblies, extra curricular activities, team sport events, field trips, and special events we offer numerous opportunities for our students to develop and succeed in a wide variety of fields.
