Learning to read..with a little help from the older children in Year 6 during our shared reading sessions

Learning to Read

Reception classes visit Baby Gym once a week as part of their Physical Development programme. Qualified instructors demonstrate and teach floor exercises and the children also learn gymnastic skills such as forward and backward rolls. They have the opportunity to use large apparatus such as the trampoline.

Mia’s father kindly agreed to come in and share his experience of work as a co-pilot with Air Seychelles. We learned new vocabulary (runway, cruise, descend..) and about the type of aeroplane he flies and how it flies. He brought in a colourful atlas to show us where he flies to and used a model aeroplane for demonstrations. We’d like to thank him for his informative visit, which prompted further imaginary journeys in the role play area!

Reception 2 had fun learning about various shapes in their surroundings.

Botanical Gardens

Children and adults had a wonderful morning at the Botanical Gardens in Victoria recently. The sun shone, creatures great and small were observed and many exotic plants and trees were discovered. We had a picnic in the park and lots of water was needed to keep us going in the heat of the morning! This was the highlight of our topic on Growing and Changing and we’d like to thank all parents who helped out.

Having been taught circle games in P.E., children enjoy playing the games independently in the playground.
