| Dear Parents, What a busy week we have had. We welcomed more new children this week. The children are settling in to school life and getting used to the school rules and routines. Please help your child by reinforcing these at home. 1. Work quietly. Don’t scream or shout. 2. Tidy up when you are finished playing. 3. Play nicely with the toys. Don’t throw them or break them. 4. Be kind and gentle. Don’t hurt anyone. Physical development is an important part of the Foundation Stage curriculum. Swimming for Reception Two will start next week. Both classes will attend the pool on Thursday afternoons. Baby Gym for all Reception classes will begin the following week. Swimming sessions and Baby Gym are supervised by qualified instructors. Assistants and teachers are also present to help. Our playground has been resurfaced with tarmac over the holiday period. Trees have been trimmed and plants have been planted. We have plans to further enhance the playground with games painted on the surface. Watch that space! We look forward to meeting all parents at the beginning of next week to discuss their child’s progress. Many thanks, Jacquie Scott Foundation Stage Co-ordinator . |
Reception News 12th September 2008 This Week Our topic over the next few weeks is ‘Myself.’ Please note – Although we share the same topic throughout Foundation Stage and some of the activities are similar between Reception One and Two, we differentiate the lessons according to the ability of the children. This week, we continued learning about our bodies and naming the different parts. We practised balancing on different parts of our bodies in P.E. and using the space. Mathematical development- we continued to learn about sorting by colour, size, shape and type. We measured with our hands and feet and measured our height. In Reception One, we learned how to count using fingers and toes and sang number rhymes. We continued to learn more sounds in phonics and practiced our handwriting movements. We enjoyed stories about families and talked about our own family. Art/craft- in Reception Two, we used mirrors to look at our reflections, and then drew our self-portraits. In Reception One, we printed with our hands and fingers and made paper plate faces by cutting out features from magazines. In ICT, we have been learning how to use the special keys – Ctrl, Alt and Delete. Mrs Vos has been teaching the children how to log on by themselves. . . |
Next Week:
Phonics (Reception Two ) – use the sheets sent home to revise the actions and sounds from last week with your child.
ENJOY! |
