  Dear Parents and Guardians,

PTA FUND-RAISING DRIVE

SHADE SAILS FOR THE PLAYGROUNDS!!The PTA is writing to ask parents and guardians to support a fund-raising drive to purchase 12 shade sails to provide shade for both the early Childhood and the main Junior/Secondary playgrounds. The shade sails, which are 7 x 7 or 7 x 9 metres each, are made in a variety of colours from high quality polyethylene netting blocking 96% UV rays.

We hope to purchase these custom-made for the spaces which we wish to cover, from ‘Shade Plus’, a South African company. Their sales department has given us a rough and preliminary price guide for the purchase and delivery (Cape Town to Johannesburg). Converted into Seychelles Rupees the product costs total SR 70,000. This figure will include fixtures and fittings, but not installation costs, which we estimate at a further SR15,000. The PTA therefore pledges to raise SR85,000 for this project, which will make a huge and positive difference to the quality of the recreational areas for the children in all sections of the school.
HOW WE INTEND TO RAISE THIS SUM

We would like to ask all parents who have not already done so to purchase a Privilege Club membership card from the school office for SR150. The Club Card provides generous discounts at a wide range of retail and service outlets in Seychelles. By purchasing the card that pays for itself you will be making an important contribution to the Shade Sail drive, AND for every card sold the PTA will MATCH- FUND the sum of SR150 from reserves, so each card sold contributes SR300 towards our target total.

The PTA will also welcome additional donations of any amount and in any currency! We very much hope that parents who feel able to contribute to this worthy venture will do so. So…let’s work together to improve the play environment and see our efforts deliver our target sum of SR85,000 before the end of this term so that we can purchase and install the sails and thereby improve the environment for all of our students.

We will be mounting a display outside the office once the fund-raising drive has been running for a week so please support us so that we can make an immediate impact on what is quite a considerable requirement.

Thank you in advance for your support.

Yours sincerely,

Mariaan Laubscher, Chair, PTA Martin Kennedy, Head teacher
